Hazardous Substances Workplace Monitoring Strategy Checklist

The following questions will be added in the checklist to prepare and use the Hazard Substances Monitoring Strategy Checklist mechanism:

1. Has the workplace assessment process identified that workplace monitoring is not required?  If the answer is yes, record this decision and do not proceed further.
2. If the answer to question 1 is no, has a workplace monitoring policy been developed?
3. Have the hazardous substances, processes or situations that are required to be monitored been identified?
4. Have sufficient resources (including budgetary resources) been allocated to allow monitoring to be conducted properly?
5. Is a suitably qualified person conducting the monitoring?
6. Have the types of monitoring required (eg. grab, static, personal), the sample procedures and analytical methods been identified?
7. Has the number of samples required been determined to ensure that representative exposure can be estimated?
8. Are procedures in place to allow the implementation of the outcomes and recommendations stemming from monitoring?
9. Are procedures in place for the recording of workplace monitoring?
10. Are aspects of workplace monitoring for hazardous substances subject to regular review?
