1. Falling into open holes
2. Falling spoil
3. Contact with moving parts
Control Measures
1. The immediate area of auguring is to be cordoned off.
2. Be aware of spoil being ejected from the auger during the drilling operation.
3. Do not stand within the immediate auguring area.
4. Open augured holes to be covered or barriered off, by the Principal Contractor, unless piles are to be placed immediately.
5. If practical, erect barriers along the pre-augured line for sheet piling, (pins and net fencing)
6. Backspin spoils into a huge hole if possible.
7. Auger cage to be attached to foot to prevent access whilst auger is turning.
